Manual driving lessons

One-on-one manual tuition, $85 an hour.

A full hour of driving, in a dual-control manual car, taught by an instructor who does nothing else. Pick-up and drop-off included.
What we cover

Every skill the drive test looks for

Lessons follow a deliberate sequence. Each skill is introduced only once the one beneath it is solid.

Clutch control

Finding the biting point, moving off smoothly, and holding the car steady in slow traffic. The foundation everything else sits on.

Hill starts

Pulling away on a gradient without rolling back and without burning the clutch. The skill learners fear most, and the one we drill hardest.

Gear selection

Choosing the right gear before you need it, changing down for corners, and staying smooth when traffic is not.

Roundabouts & intersections

Approach speed, gear choice and lane discipline - the combination that trips up manual learners more than anything else.

Parking manoeuvres

Reverse parallel parking, three-point turns and reversing in a straight line, all with clutch control that holds up under pressure.

Freeway & night driving

Merging at speed, holding higher gears confidently, and the low-light awareness your logbook hours need anyway.

Who we teach

Beginners, nervous drivers and everyone in between

Complete beginners. Never touched a clutch. We start in a quiet street, at walking pace, and you will be moving off smoothly before the first hour is out.
Automatic drivers converting to manual. You already read the road well – you just need the left foot and the gear lever. This usually goes much faster than people expect.
Nervous drivers. Whether it is a previous bad experience, a failed test or a gap of several years, the approach is the same: slow down, rebuild the basics, and let confidence follow competence.
Test-ready learners. You can drive, you just need the Pakenham route rehearsed and the rough edges smoothed off before test day.
